We begun our trip to Las Vegas with the Design Hounds Group at the Wynn Hotel. This was one day prior to the #KBIS2024 convention kicking off.
The purpose of this kick off event prior to the actual convention was to inspire designer to reconnect to oneself and to one another, through the collative time spent with innovative designers. We here to inspire us to change and approach design differently. #dare.to.design.
The event was lead by Veronkia Eagleson and sponsored by @sksappliances - @westlakeroyalbuildingproducts - @steamtherapy - @designhounds - @grohe_us - @kbis_official. As well as a shout out to Laurie Laizure from Interior Design Community for inviting us to this event.

The Integration of Wellness into Design
Of course there was a spotlight on wellness at KBIS2024 illuminated a profound transformation in how we perceive and construct our living environments. With a clear pivot towards designs that actively contribute to our well-being, this year’s show revealed an array of innovative features aimed at fostering healthier lifestyles. From the integration of advanced water purification systems that guarantee clean, safe water to the adoption of circadian lighting that aligns with our natural body rhythms, the emphasis was firmly on creating spaces that enhance both physical and mental health.
Bathrooms have evolved into personal retreats with features reminiscent of luxury soaking tubs, including steam showers and therapeutic bathtubs, designed to provide a sanctuary within the home where relaxation and rejuvenation are paramount. Kitchens, too, have seen a shift, with designs that encourage healthy eating habits through thoughtful integration of appliances and features that simplify the preparation of nutritious meals.
These wellness-focused innovations extend beyond mere functionality, encapsulating a holistic approach to design that considers every aspect of the user’s interaction with their environment. This year's event underscored the importance of spaces that not only look good but feel good, supporting a lifestyle where well-being is integrated seamlessly into the fabric of our daily lives. The thoughtful integration of wellness into design highlighted at KBIS2024 showcases a future where our living spaces are not just places we inhabit, but active participants in our quest for a healthier, happier life.
Embracing the Future with Smart Home Innovations
As the digital age advances, KBIS2024 demonstrated that the integration of smart technology into kitchen and bath spaces is not just a trend but a transformative movement. The event was a showcase for the seamless fusion of functionality and digital convenience, highlighting how appliances and fixtures are becoming more intuitive and interactive. Among the innovations were faucets that awaken with a simple voice command, mirrors that provide health and wellness insights, and refrigerators designed to keep track of your dietary needs and shopping lists. These smart innovations are redefining the user experience, making daily routines more efficient and personalized. The incorporation of such technology into the design of kitchens and bathrooms illustrates a shift towards environments that not only understand but anticipate the needs of their users. The focus is on creating spaces that are not only technologically advanced but also aesthetically pleasing, ensuring that these smart solutions enhance the visual appeal of interiors without compromising their design integrity. This embrace of smart home technology at KBIS2024 highlights a future where living spaces are not just about style or function individually but about how seamlessly and intelligently these elements can be integrated to enrich the quality of life.
The Rise of Personalized Spaces
KBIS2024 spotlighted an exhilarating trend towards the customization of living environments, illustrating a significant departure from one-size-fits-all solutions. The showcased designs underscored a future where every homeowner becomes an integral part of the design process, crafting spaces that are not only reflective of personal taste but also adaptive to unique lifestyle needs. This movement is characterized by saturation of color. Providing a canvas for endless personal expression and functionality. The attention to personalization is evident in the details, with options for bespoke finishes that cater to the minutest preferences, from the sheen of a countertop to the texture of cabinetry. Beyond aesthetics, these personalized elements extend to practical solutions, such as custom storage options designed to maximize efficiency and minimize clutter in daily life. The introduction of technology-driven personalization further amplifies this trend, offering the ability to tailor environments in real-time to suit mood, occasion, or specific requirements. This pivot towards highly personalized spaces is not just a testament to the innovation on display at KBIS2024 but also a reflection of a broader cultural shift towards individuality and personal expression in the design of our most intimate environments.
Innovative Materials and Finishes Redefining Aesthetics
At KBIS2024, the exploration of new materials and finishes captured the imaginations of attendees, presenting an inspiring palette for future design projects. Highlighting the trend towards sustainability and durability without sacrificing beauty, innovative materials such as recycled glass composites and eco-friendly laminates were prominently featured. These materials not only contribute to the environmental consciousness of designs but also offer unique textures and colors that can be tailored to individual preferences. The exhibition also shone a spotlight on advancements in surface technology, with ultra-compact surfaces and high-pressure laminates showcasing exceptional resistance to heat, scratches, and stains, making them ideal for both residential and commercial applications.
The evolution of finishes has taken a bold turn, with designers now having at their disposal a variety of tactile experiences - from the ultra-smooth to the richly textured. Matte finishes continue to dominate, lending a sophisticated and contemporary look that plays well with both natural light and artificial illumination. This is complemented by the innovative use of metal accents in brushed and satin finishes, adding a touch of glamour and contrast to spaces. The interaction of these materials and finishes opens up new avenues for creating environments that are not only visually captivating but are built to withstand the demands of everyday use. The advancements highlighted at KBIS2024 underscore a future where materials and finishes are not just chosen for their aesthetic appeal but for their ability to enhance the functionality and sustainability of spaces.
